Detailed description of Lakota Links Golf Course
Lakota Links Golf Course, named Lakota Canyon Ranch Golf Club initially, is an 18 hole public golf course located in New Castle, Colorado, 10 miles west of Glenwood Springs on Interstate 70.
Lakota Links first opened for play in May 2004. James J. Engh designed the par-72 course.
The holes of world-class golf offer challenging golf along with stunning views of rugged Western Colorado canyons and natural terrain. Lakota's 7111-yard layout promises to be enjoyable for all levels of golfer. An exciting feature players face at Lakota is the elevated tee boxes on occasion dropping 100 feet to the fairway.
The course is open nine months out of the year.
Black tees: 7,111 yards, course rating 72.2, slope rating, 137.
Blue tees: 6,323 yards, course rating 69.5, slope rating, 126.
White tees: 5,612 yards, course rating 67.1, slope rating, 116.
Red tees: 4,713 yards, course rating 68.2, slope rating, 121.

Wow, this is a great track. The same type of terrain as nearby back nine @ Rifle, but nice wide fairways and slope that actually puts the ball back in play, instead of in trouble. Really a fun track and in wonderful shape. Everyone here was very friendly and professional. We will be back to play here again.

Great course! Accuracy is a must here but it is awesome. It is a little pricey but well worth it!

Accuracy is not the most important requirement due to the extreme mounding. But a very, very fun course in a spectacular setting.

Unless you have played this course several times, there are many places that a good shot is penalized because the ball lands in a rough area that cannot be seen by the player. A more descriptive write up on each hold would be helpful, such as "don't attempt to cut the dog leg unless you can hit it 300 yards as the natural area and ditch extend out past the dog leg which you cannot see". I would be very interested in working with you to write up a detailed description of each hole for each tee box. This would include distances to hazards, amount of carry to each "safe" area, best way to play the hole and blind obstacles that will penalize a good shot. The only compensation that I would require would be travel and living expenses for three days (mileage at $,60. mile) and green fees for two for a year. As we live in Denver, we could not be able to play more than a dozen times. We would present our write up in electronic form and the club would be responsible for completing the project with a printed brochure.
